Join the Min-Man Football Club and Mintaro community and bring your deck chairs / rugs and sit back to watch on the big screen the images of the Clare Valley sheep industry before enjoying the 1975 feature film Sunday Too Far Away. The winner of four major prizes at the Australian Film Awards and was selected for screening in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival and filmed just north of the Clare Valley. The film is set on a sheep station in the Australian outback in 1955 and its action concentrates on the shearers’ reactions to a threat to their bonuses and the arrival of non-union labour.
Purchase some of the legendary Mintaro and Muleteer Lamb Sausages prepared by National Award winning Clare butcher Jason Mathie with the special recipe developed in Mintaro in 2018 as part of an international chef exchange and featuring lamb from Martindale Farm and Mitchell Farm (Mintaro).

This day will focus on farm tours of the historic sheep stations in the region Bungaree and Martindale Farm. Focus is on hearing from the farmers about the history and the ways forward and include discussions on the health and wellbeing.

Watervale Hotel Watervale – Sunday Roast 12 noon The Watervale Hotel will fire up the ‘Fires of Hell’ BBQ for the first time for the Festival of the Lamb. Six course degustation lunch prepared by Nicola Palmer with paired wines from Kirrihill and Farrell wines plus a couple of surprises. The menu will feature lamb roasted nose to tail with ethically grown lambs from Martindale Farm and processed by Menzel’s in Kapunda. It will not only be the lamb that gets roasted. Two of the region’s best supporters, Senator Don Farrell, Shadow Minister for Tourism and ex-Senator Sean Edwards of Kirrihill will be at the roast talking about the way forward for Australia, the Clare Valley, Tourism and Wine as we emerge from COVID-19. This could be an afternoon full of surprises. Another local boy Rob Geddes, Master of Wine, will MC the event. Tuesday 22 Finale Spring Equinox Tour and Dinner – 4pm – Penobscot Farm Tour. The organic, bio-dynamic Penobscot Farm, home to Nicola Palmer and Warrick Duthy will be open to the public for the first time. Jared Murray and Warrick Duthy will discuss the application of Permaculture principles at Penobscot Farm over a Kilikanoon Vouvray and appetizer prepared at the Watervale Hotel.
6pm – Six course Degustation dinner at the Watervale Hotel prepared by Chef Nicola Palmer, assisted by Chef Outta Water’s International Chef Michael Brine. The menu will feature lamb roasted nose to tail with ethically grown lambs from Martindale Farm and processed by Menzel’s in Kapunda. Wines from Kilikanoon will be paired with the food to showcase the evolution of this outstanding ambassador for Clare Valley wine. Wines will include the 2016 Mort’s Reserve Riesling rated ‘best Australian White’ at Mundus Vini and the 2014 Oracle Shiraz rated ‘Best Shiraz in the world’ at the IW&SC. Clare Valley Festival of the Lamb - A New Spring Festival - Food With a View
